About 8f-2
The studio
8f-2 Studio has built websites for arts organisations since before 2019; the name comes from the studio's address on the eighth floor in Luzhou. We focus on art festivals, biennials, museum programmes and research platforms, and we believe a website can be part of the exhibition rather than its notice board.
Cheng-Tao Chen
He studied plant science, did a master's in biodiversity, worked on rice and bioinformatics at an agricultural research institute and Academia Sinica, then entered the Graduate Institute of Trans-disciplinary Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts. In 2015 he founded Forest People: Taroko Artist Residency, now over ten years old, bringing artists to live and work in Taroko's indigenous villages each year. He is a PhD candidate at Tainan National University of the Arts, researching art as a way of producing knowledge, bodily perception and place, and non-anthropocentric ecology.
Twenty years of building websites, from a university department site and DNA sequence analysis to museum plugins today. The two lines meet at 8f-2: reading the curatorial essay and writing the code.
